A group of leading online journalism gurus — some of whom happen to be Asian-American — will help you get a head-start on your competition and keep up with the changing media landscape.

 

When: Thurs., Jan. 17th, 6 – 9:30 p.m.

 

Where: The Time Life Building at 1271 6th Ave., the 30th floor conference room.

 

6 – 6:45: Welcome and reception.

 

6:45 – 7:45: Panel discussion. “New Media Journalism & You” — a look at how journalism is changing, where the jobs are and what you need to know. Panelists to be announced.

 

7:45 – 9:30: Two parallel workshops (choose one that night):

 

Session A. “Multimedia Storytelling @ NYTimes.com” — a workshop that takes you into the NYT website and shows you how multimedia storytelling is done.

INSTRUCTOR: Andrew Devigal, multimedia editor, The New York Times.

 

Session B. “Using Web 2.0 Tools in Journalism 1.0″ — a workshop to shows you how to use various Web 2.0, social networking, social bookmarking, interactive mapping tools to find sources, improve your stories, etc.

INSTRUCTOR: Sree Sreenivasan, professor, Columbia Journalism School and WNBC technology reporter.
